STACIE SANTA CRUZ - ARTIST / ENGINEER
Artist Biography -
Stacie has been an artist her entire life. As a child she could draw anything she saw, with amazing detail. But, she chose to pursue a career in engineering because her art was too personal to sell. But, after earning three engineering degrees and working as an engineer for over 30 years Stacie decided to pursue her passion for art.
Making paracord leashes for friends was her first step back into creating. Paracord weaving and knotting wasn't a new skill. Stacie learned macrame knots back in the 70's and made many gifts for friends and family. Creating new leash designs tapped into Stacie's engineering abilities to design and problem solve. Multiple sizes and styles have been created to meet each dog owner's needs. Stacie's designs are based on stunning and unique color combinations.
Stacie also, but not too often, designs logos for friends. These design are usually computer generated and easy for the customer to reproduce. Stacie's most famous design is the Zia Australian Shepherd "Jumping Aussie". The design has been reproduced on t-shirts to earn money for Zia Australian Shepherd Club of New Mexico.

Art is in my DNA. Both my parents are artists and enjoyed creating. I inherited that gene. I spent most of my adult life working as an engineer. But, engineering isn't as creative as one might imagine. So, in my retirement, I am truly enjoying my passion for creating. A great side benefit of creating art is making my friends (old and new) smile. Thanks to all my friends that have encouraged me to create more new leash designs, explore new color palettes and generate new digital art.
